For the letter E, I want to talk about the book Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. I don’t want to do a book review, but it’s safe to say I adored the book. (Mr. Sanderson’s books are always awesomeness times ten).
Recently, my roommate read Elantris for the first time. She loved it too, but it terrified her. See in the book there are these creatures called Seons. They are described as floating balls of light with words in them. The words are called Aons and are pretty sweet shaped non-English words. They are a great part of the world-building.
They frightened my roommate. First, the pictures of the Aons creeped her out completely and then the thought of those strange symbols floating in the air while she was sleeping . . .
(If I was a mean roommate and had some glow in the dark paint, I would’ve had so much fun.)
It’s interesting what frightens people. At least the Seons aren’t as the two scary things in this video:
Haven't heard of it. Thanks for mentioning! That vid is so funny. I just love cats.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of it either. Thanks for sharing. Have a fantastic day :-)
ReplyDeleteNever heard of it either, but it sounds intriguing!
ReplyDeleteI've heard the title of this book (but then, I used to work in a library....) but never read it - yet!
ReplyDeleteAs for the cat video - you made my day! I wondered how the music was tailored to fit, then read the closing credits! I thought I recognised Mr Goldsmith's signature in there somewhere, musically speaking! ;-)
SueH I refuse to go quietly!
Loved the video as a cat lover thought it funny,
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the read and a good E word.
Yvonne.
Love, love, love Elantris. Brandon says it's probably his weakest work but it's fabulous and just goes to show you how epic his other books are.
ReplyDeleteThe video just cracked me up! Imagine how the kitty would jump if someone could make one of those apples move.
I love the sound of that book---must load it on my Kindle.

Ooh sounds really interesting, just the kind of thing I like! I'll have to give it a read :D
ReplyDeleteHavne't read the book but made a note of the title. Enjoyed watching the kitten attacking the apples. Happy A-Z April!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I'm like your roommate, I have never read it...I guess another book is added to my list? so much to read, so little time!
ReplyDeletePerfect soundtrack!
ReplyDeleteI don't need to read something that will keep me up at night in fear. Maybe over the summer. Thanks for the visit.

Sounds like great world-building. Now how the heck, am I going to be able to sleep after that video. I will so worried about the bed apples. Mommy?
ReplyDeleteAwww that is the cutest kitten EVER!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Elantris either, but I love the sound of the Aons! I'm such a scaredy cat, though, I'd probably be feart of them too after reading the book.
