A and B: Animals and Books
I’m planning on doing the A-Z Blog challenge. It’s my first year. Since I missed the letter A yesterday I will combine it with B.
Animals and books are probably the biggest distractions known to writers. I have a cat and a dog and if I need to write, they need cuddles. And the keyboard! That is the best place for cats to take a nap. I’m getting pretty good at moving fuzzy limbs to get to the backspace key.
Books—how am I supposed to write when there are so many awesome books out there? I write because I love characters and plots and settings that suck me in. Many times, I have not written because I could not put down a book. Darn those authors.
Everyone needs a break now and then. So pick up that book you’ve been meaning to.
Nothing better than cuddling with a purring cat, warm puppy, and a good book. Though I suppose that’s better than my other A and B distraction—Angry Birds.
Books are a terrible distraction to me too. It's like they're stalking me, whenever I'm not paying attention some book or another sneaks up my to-do list and before I know it I'm on page 112 and can't put it down. :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the A to Z challenge, it's really neat!
Good advice, Jessica. I love to read. And now that I have an iPhone and have downloaded Kindle for iPhone, I can read anywhere at anytime. Cool beans!
ReplyDeleteAnimals, Books and Angry Birds! Great distractions to keep one away from work!
ReplyDeleteLovely to read, how I agree sitting with a purring cat reading a book is heaven, I miss my cat although she has been gone 12 years. Can't get another as the place I rent don't allow pets.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to reading more from you.
Yvonne,

ReplyDeleteAw! Great job, Jess. So glad you decided to do the A-Z Challenge. :-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteGood job!
ReplyDeleteI like your word count bar you have on your blog. I might have to steel that for my next project. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteClever blog post. Well done. I really like the way your brain works and the direction in which it goes.
ReplyDeleteRhia #873 on A to Z list
Pleasant and whimsical start to the challenge, Jessica. Good luck with it.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I know what you mean about animals being a distraction! My cat can sense when I am trying to work, because that is when he wants me to play!
ReplyDeleteRe: How am I supposed to write when... ...read enough books and you will be writing better than ever.
